The reason it's not as big of a deal on dirt tires on pavement is the tall knobs flex and give the "cush" you want. Street tires on the street grab and would slam the chain and countershaft hard during acceleration from a stop, fast upshifts, and downshifts.

Given the weather and the fact that I have to either empty my truck or empty my trailer and it's about to rain here, I'm gonna stay home.
