Re: Mountain bike trails

I actually enjoyed the whole ride. I learned a lot and I think doing challenging stuff is good for you (particularly as we get older, I won't get too philosophical here though ;) ). I expect to do a lot better next time. I'll check out little bennett too. I'm about in the middle between gambrill and...

I'd look twice before bending over around some of these guys? :killingme:
I think you may be safe unless you see someone walking around with a step stool...

Re: Mountain bike trails

My knees started going bad many years ago ( too many hard miles thanks to Uncle Sam) and I started biking. I got “serious” a few years ago. I try to ride several times a week. It’s tough in the winter, hence the mountain bike. No windchill to contend with. I've been lucky, knee-wise, so far and Unc...

Re: Mountain bike trails

Oh, yeah,, I was definitely standing up a lot. At some point I do think I'll swap to the fattest tires the frame can handle but it's just on 2" tires at the moment. I'm going to go ahead and run them tubeless until I wear them out. It gets expensive quick when you start a new hobby. ;) I already ord...

Re: Mountain bike trails

While driving there I was thinking of how convenient it is to you (and OFG). I bet it would be a shocker if you were completely new to all the rocks in the woods around here. It is nice that you're right by the road all the time at gambrill. I'll do better next time out. I'll also be sure to actuall...

Re: Joe's Beta thread

Wow, good thing you caught it and it seems to be stuck in the carb (?). Hopefully the cylinder still looks good.

Re: Mountain bike trails

Just got back from going to gambrill. It's a lot more work than I expected, both from a technique perspective and from a fitness perspective. I bet doing this regularly would have some carry-over to riding the dirt bike, particularly in terms of looking for smooth lines. I was definitely wanting smo...

Re: Mountain bike trails

It would be great to have the gpx files. I'll PM you my email address. Thanks! I may see about getting out there for the casual trail ride. That sounds about my speed although possibly on the fast side for me. ;) And, it turns out my daughter has lunch plans she'd forgotten about so she'll be hangin...

Re: Mountain bike trails

Yeah, I've heard that the watershed isn't marked too well. I figured I'd just do an out and back this first time (and I've got GPS so should be able to do that, guffaw). I see that there's something downloadable on trailforks but I haven't registered yet... However, my daughter is wanting to ride so...

Re: Mountain bike trails

We'll see how often I get out on the mtb, there are a bunches of trails about half an hour from home and seems like there are unofficial spots that I could go to from without even loading up... I just bought the thing (regular price $1300, I got it for $600  ). I run or ride a bicycle every ...
