I am with you on that. That plate that was added was rolled to fit the back edge. Fit like a glove.

Re: No Not Again

That looks great! Thanks for the good pics of the process. I've tig-ed in a t-shirt many times but never w/o gloves. Not sure how he stands that. He's tougher than me for sure:) I expected to be in and out of his shop in 30-minutes. Larry spent over 2-hours on it. I think the extra steel plate he u...

Re: No Not Again

I really like the work my buddy did with the weld job. He opened the crack up to get fresh pair of welds on both sides. Then he ground the welds flat and covered it with a another plate of steel. I painted the frame, replaced the swingarm bearings, swingarm axel and freshened up a lot of other stuff...

Re: Granville's Western MD Camp & Ride 4/17-18

what is the zip code? can i get a 34' motorhome in there? Granville's Honey Hole is a motorhome friendly destination. However, there is one tight turn coming off Rt 935 to Bartlett Rd.. I'm pretty sure you could cross the yellow and swing it wide on Bartlett or go down 36 a bit further and come up ...

Re: No Not Again

My super secret friend "The Fabricator" says he can fix it stronger than new with his tig. I said great, that's just what I need. Then he said I have to pull the engine and bring him just the frame. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/640x480q90/923/rjfCws.jpg https://imagizer.imageshack.co...

Re: No Not Again

REALLY Sorry to see that!!! I can't understand how something like that could happen to such a new low hour bike that has only been ridden very gently and carefully by a little bitty Mellow-Fellow ??? Imagine my amazement too! It's only my third cracked frame. I don't believe any were the re...

Re: No Not Again

It's not forged. It's cast. It can be welded stronger than new by someone who knows what they are doing. Take a GOOD look at the rest of the frame as there could be more cracks. I also believe it can be repaired and ultimately be stronger than before. Several weeks ago, I had the seat off and notic...

Re: No Not Again

I know a welding pro that is gong to look at it soon. I think it can be welded as like on the XR. The swingarm is going to have to be removed and weld work done from behind the photo.

No Not Again

Cracked the frame on an XR600 in the same place years ago. Now on my beloved 525.
