This is awesome. I've got no input just yet but could definitely see checking some roads out and adding as I find stuff. No dualsport here but my versys ought to be fine (shoot, I've done some switchbacked "forest" roads, really not much more than basic trails, on my old superhawk).

I've got some parts that would work on this bike, including possibly a speedo/odo and tank/gas cap w/keys (I think I've got the keys somewhere). I parted out my 97 but was left with some things... Free...

I've thought about getting one of those too but just for off road use since I've got lots of fogging issues with glasses and goggles. It's pretty routinely priced at $99 and should probably be considered a $99 helmet rather than a $199 (not that I think that's a problem). I'm with you on pricey helm...
