Re: Michaux or Taskers Gap?

Last I heard, fines for going around gates, etc was $250-$300. I think other than the people who live in those woods, we were the only people in there. Ranger Rick seemed to have a pretty indifferent attitude like "if you're nuts enough to ride in there today, do what you want." I wouldn'...

Re: Michaux or Taskers Gap?

Rode Michaux today. Got up there about 11 and rode until nearly 5pm. We rode a pretty snowy road to get to the District Office where we asked them which roads had been cleared and where's it safe to ride. The guy with the gun said, "Cleared? if you think it's safe to ride have at it and if ther...

Re: Dual Sport Advice Needed

On my KLR running a D606 rear and MT-21 front, I've scraped a peg a time or two. Same for my GS running Michilen Wilds or TKC80s. I'm not normally grinding hard parts but the tires have the grip to do it. In the wet, that's a nuther story but that's why my 1200GS has those tires on it. I'm always re...

Re: Michaux or Taskers Gap?

I called the Lee Ranger District today to ask about when Taskers Gap might open. They're going back in to do a final survey of the trails on 3/18 and depending on the moisture/condition then, may open the trails. She said basically that they're waiting on them to dry out a bit to open it up. A frien...

When my schedule allows I'll get a group together to hit it up, you should at least try it once! :roost:
Would love too. It doesn't look any farther from me than Michaux or Taskers Gap

Re: Michaux or Taskers Gap?

Twist, MotoCove is serious offroad if you are a beginner. If you still have your stock WR250R tires then Id advise you not to go. (I apologize if Im confusing you with someone else). That said, I really like MotoCove. Its a fun place. What day were you going to ride? I looked in to MotoCove a bit a...

Re: Michaux or Taskers Gap?

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. I'm thinking of trying to get out Thursday/Friday depending on the weather. I'm flexible and waiting to hear back from another friend who just picked up another WRR this winter. We're both reasonably experienced off-road guys but most of my recent experience o...

Michaux or Taskers Gap?

I'm going to try to sneak out for a ride later in the coming week and these two places are about equidistant for me (~2.5 hours). I'm familiar with Peters Mill having ridden that 7 mile stretch a few times on the KLR but now with the WRR, wanting to explore the Taskers trails. I'll probably haul the...

Re: Cold & wet weather off road gear

I catch myself out riding in some DAMN cold weather from time to time. In temps from 100 to high-40s I'llI wear a wicking synthetic base layer top and bottom and a Klim Badlands jacket and pants. If it's colder, I'll add a Warm N Safe electric mid-layer jacket and gloves and wear a merino wool botto...

Re: Granville work days 3/1-3/2

I'm going to be "that guy." ^%^%&* there's no way for me to make it out there this weekend. I was looking forward to meeting some of you guys and paying it forward for some future rides.

Sorry for bagging out.
