Re: 450 Adventure Bike
For all around cheapness and reliability, I really like my DR650.
I'm waiting for Suzuki to discontinue the DR and replace w/ the DRZ650. Liquid cooling, fuel injection, at least some effort at weight savings, sort of a cheaper version of KTM's 690.

Re: Memorial Weekend - who is riding where?
Hey, Mike. No, I don't remember any low water bridges. But it was mostly the route you suggested, crossed into WV at Williamsport made our way over to Allensville, then Cherrysomething road, then River rd, to 522 and up into Hancock. Was some nice backroad motard riding. Great twisty little route w/...

Re: 450 Adventure Bike
I had a big BMWGS bike for 2-3 years and 22-24,000 miles. The weight was my biggest complaint about it. Though it wasn't a Goldwing, it was great for riding 2-up. My wife was mad at me when I sold it. Especially when I replaced it w/ a DR650. I don't think she ever got off the back of the DR w/out t...

Thanks for the suggested routes Mike. I think we liked Allensville especially!

Re: 450 Adventure Bike
In the last Dakar, one of the top french riders was on WR450 based bike. Were you thinking of some sort of rally/adventure bike like that?
A lot of those 450s can really put out the horsepower, but they might be a little more maintenence intensive and/or not live as long as a KLR/DR650.

Re: Memorial Weekend - who is riding where?
Yeah, was a good ride. It all worked out pretty well except for the closed road. We thought we could get through on the far side. We were wrong. But it was good practice hopping logs. Where are the pics of the downed bikes, I think we got a few. I know someone got Ken's bike down, did we get a pic o...

Re: Memorial Weekend - who is riding where?
Yes, we will be avoiding the DR drowning watercrossings for sure. Like Ken said, maybe some smaller ones. Shouldn't be really muddy, but we'll be on dirtroads, so there might be some. As of the moment nobody has gotten the ADV MD tag, it is sitting out at Greenridge. We'll probably get bruced, but w...
