Re: New ULTRA Bee
That is the one shortcoming of Ebikes is slow speed ability to modulate the power. I am sure they are getting there but yeah, sometimes you have to be ready when you whack it. Not as forgiving as ICE for slow speed work, for now anyway. Hitting logs just right is harder on Ebikes, for me anyway- I ...

Re: New ULTRA Bee
Stephen have you researched the new offerings from EM having a clutch and overall batt range? They offer that adventure based model (still trials platform). My beef with the trials is it needs at least a couple speed gear box. Having the ability to go from zero to 40 in a whiskey throttle does not ...

Re: New ULTRA Bee
Quick update. Dan and I rode Eagle Bay two weekends ago. I rode the UB and used 60% of the battery in ~16mi so it won't make two laps :( The fork is really hard. The rear end really wallows. Rode the spare KTM E on the second lap (short story: I bought another one that was too good a deal to pass up...

Re: Stark VARG
Electric Cycle Rider just got his and posted his first ride video (He did ride prototype out in Spain before.) Says the power and handling is nuts. Was using 40hp in the woods and said was all he could use. No comment on range yet.

Bumping this thread. I know Twist and HuskyMatt have now done it.
Sep 15-18 could work for me. I've penciled it in the calendar for now to keep that weekend open.

Re: Laugh of the day
We can laugh all we want but he may be in the ballpark. Hagerty values them at $16.1k in just 'good' condition. I think all his mods detract value (its only original once) but he might very well get close to asking if he finds the right collector? https://www.hagerty.com/valuation-tools/kawasaki/z1b...

Re: OBX Beach/Dune Riding
That looks like a blast! FWIW, KTM makes an ultra fine fine 'mesh' like air filter cover for riding in the sand. It keeps the ultra fine stuff from sticking to and clogging up, or worse, making it through the filter. It prob fits other bikes w/ similar shaped air filters. Can prob find similar produ...

Re: MAICO motorcycles
Yeah, the 1981 490 Mega 2 was the focus of that video I posted. I never knew the history before or how/why it fell apart. Its pretty neat to see how close they got it to today's geometry. Power and weight were pretty darn close to today too.

MAICO motorcycles
Watched an interesting video on the history and fall of Maico motorcycles. Figured some old folks like Bill might have been around when it happened I have to admit, its a really sexy looking bike!
