If you want to come over and help me go through the bike and set it up ...

Boom Boom has me convinced to remove the sidecar and learn to ride solo. This bike needs to be gone through, clean-up, etc then I'm ready!

Sidecar racing takes priority tho :smoking:
Ken, what needs "set up" other than removing the side car?
If it runs then you are ready.
Dump the old gas and mix up some fresh 50:1 and you are ready.
As with all old Spanish trials bikes don't expect the clutch or brakes to work well and it will sputter like a tractor....that would be about normal.
OBTW, if your tank has not been lined I would do that first, the crap we call gas will eat your nice fiberglass tank.

I need to take it apart enough to clean and lube, inspect, change oil, etc. I didn't do that with the Wasp and spent a lot of time fixing things I should have found before i started riding it. I've learned my lesson!

As far as "set up," I have no idea how to adjust controls, brakes, etc on a trials bike for my frame. I'll just make it comfortable until the first time we get together, then you can counsel me on my errors.

I think the tank is plastic. It isn't the original tank but it needs to be checked and the carb needs to be cleaned.

This isn't a lot of work. I just need to find the time to do it. I've been focused on getting the P3 race-ready for Loudon which is Jun 13-16. When I get back from that, the Montesa gets my full attention.

btw, I'm still hurting from my flip at HM. :boohoo:

I'm very motivated to learn trials and improve my technical proficiency. :pyndn:

Cool.

I was thinking specifically about my club's event in DE in early November, and having a "beginner group" like I experienced years ago. Riders would compete in the normal beginner's class, but someone (me?) would ride with them and provide insight, help, suggestions, etc. to make the day as low-stress as possible. Boom Boom's post/offer seems to have attracted a lot of attention, and I'd very much be interested in attending/helping out with that. We did a "newbie trials day" with my club earlier this year with great results. Boom Boom's idea would be very much the same thing.

No reason both can't happen! :ride:

If I can get my trails in decent shape before the July 4th w/e, I was thinking that might be a good date for a little camp - ride thing at the farm.

I just got released to ride Thursday by my doctor. My knee braces will be in next week. My son is almost packed and will be leaving for his trip (I am really going to miss him). So, I should be ready to make early July. I already have a new rear tire for my trials bike and the thing runs fairly well.

I might be able to help out as far as the rules go, but for technique...not so much :lol2: Unless something comes up, I should be at the event in November. I could at least demonstrate where to go on the 4 line since I'll still be riding it. Then again, maybe I could use the help:

I could tentatively swing that. Probably just one day, or one day/overnight/morning ride/hit the road...
