Ride today and camera review

Post by vetteguy »

Went for a little ride today at some local trails. Due to recent shoulder surgery my wife was against this ride but I told her I would take it easy. I was chomping at the bit to get out and ride as I have not riden since the end of Sept. Since I could not find anyone to ride with and the weather was so nice I broke one of my rules and went alone. Trails were pretty snow covered and rutted from 4 wheelers. I fell twice and got stuck a few times. All in all I had fun but decided it was too dangerous and did not stick around very long. One of the reasons I wanted to go was to test out my new Emerson Action Cam my son bought me for Christmas. For a $30 camera I was very impressed. I did not want to spend $300 on a Go Pro just to destroy it on the trails. Ran about 35 mins of video. Came home and put SD card in my laptop. Man was I impressed. I was not expecting much and it was way better than I expected. I used a hose clamp to mount it on my bark busters. I'm sure it is not as good as a Go Pro but for $30 I have no complaints and would recommend. We will see how it holds up. Guy

Well as Ken would say, "it didn't happen unless we see video"

They ruined it, but you can download Live Movie Maker from Microsoft for free and it does a passable job. It used to actually be a good piece of software. Now, good and inexpensive is Sony Vegas (name was changed, but that will find it).

Video added in original post. You can see how rutted and snotty the trail is.

What do you think of the camera? I think it is pretty good especially when it is still.

Do you have a helmet mount? Mounted to your helmet it aims where you are looking and is more stable. Just my .02 Where were you?
