For low seat height a "scrambler" type model would be best wouldn't it?

Drz, I believe, is heavier. Regardless, it feels like a total pig compared to the race - bred WR.
But as a true dualsport, with a real electrical system and street sensibilities, it's a great bike.

Btw, this thread took a bad turn when taking about seat height. Seat height is not a concern of mine. :-)

What experience I already have on it has shown it to be a lot heavier and underpowered compared to my WR, but it definitely succeeds on the "proper electrical system" front.

The WR250R also comes across as a good contender, especially since wassisname has put some godawful amount of miles on his riding around Alaska. Didn't he also ride it cross country and/or TO Alaska?

wassisname = skierd - And he is still riding that bike today!!!
That's impressive. When he lived here he would ride that bike 100 miles or so to an event, ride the event, then ride it home and it is still going? He had 20K miles when he went to Alaska and I remember reading his post about the Alaska highway trip he took. I think that has got to be about the best small bore "real dirt worthy" bike out there.

Here's a new 13 from Heinen Motorsports. They ship around the country and are a verified good dealer. They sale a lot of Husky's across the country.

Just because I like being a PITA, have you checked out the Husky Swedish/Italian/German/Austrian 650 Terra or the BMW Sertao. Both are nice, low and more better than a DRZ400 or DR650 or XR605, or KLX etc...they may be as low as the YZ250R .... maybe lower. More power better for longer trips more most people...IMO Sam is right about weight .

I had a TE310 and while it is touted as a "Dual Sport", it is more of a true dirt bike. The gearing was tight and at 55 and above, you were singing the motor :kboom:

For that reason, I used my 525 for any Dual Sport chores.
