Yes I am!

I've missed street riding. It's been nearly 3 years since I had a proper street bike.

Even better. My commute sucks so riding a bike helps me to keep my sanity.

I'm looking forward to your impression of the 650. I've ridden a 1k and liked it a lot! A strom of some sort is on my short list of next bike purchases and I'd like to know how the 650 does on the highway and two up.
F*** work.

Wingfixer, I had a 2004 650 a few years ago. I LOVED it. It did great on the highway and long distance touring. It could tear up the twisties and sip fuel to the tune of about 50 mpg. The only thing it doesn't do all that well is 2 up. I only tried that once with my wife and decided that was enough. I still had my ST1100 at the time so that may have influenced me, but I seem to remember the 650 just didn't have the ass to get up and go when it needed to when riding 2 up.

Since the bikes of that generation (and I'm sure the current generation too) share the same frame and such, farkles are almost all the same between the 1k and the 650. Things they need no matter the engine size, IMO, are: Madstad bracket for the stock wind screen, a better seat (I'll be getting a Russell again), and suspension work. I also prefer a fork brace, Pelican top case, and center stand. The crash bars and skid plate are nice, but not needed if you don't go off asphalt. I'll be selling the side racks and Caribou cases that came with the bike since I think they make it too wide at the hips and I rarely need to carry that much crap.
