Thats a good looking Tenere.
What are your seconds thoughts? I see the appeal of the Tenere at a lower cost. But a quick looks says they are both ~$10k (cycletrader). Is that not correct? I would think the 790 is then a slam dunk winner among this crowd (unless you just hate orange. I can understand that as I hate Red:)) We took a GOOOOOD look at the 790 they had in Richmond when I picked up my 500. Very cool bike. a friend and I can't think of any reason we'd need one, but it doesn't stop us from trying to figure one out :killingme:
hey Stephen, Yes I sat on the 790, JT had a leftover white one back in December before they moved to the other place. Almost walked out with it but backed out since I knew of the T7 coming out. 100% agree a lighter better suspension bike it takes the cake. My situation is a little different since Im short statured :lol2: So I knew its a $1000 off the top (lowered) just to make them ridable on a perfectly good bike, as my Husky. I figured the T7s weak link would be the suspension so the money saved $3k would be spent on setting up that. T7 simplicity is also, something I liked. Also have been monitoring first year run, https://790adventure.net/category/early-faults/ as Im sure the T7 will have some issues. My next door neighbors has had decent luck with the Yamahas last 20 years though, kinda makes me lean that way also. Still kicking tires, but definitely on my wish list for long distance mid weight bike. I do feel a need for a jap bike this year :eats: Enjoyed the CB500x I had back in 2014 for what it was.

Ktm is 4k more. And more dirt oriented. T7 is more street and simpler. No electronic crap. T7 might need suspension work, depends on the person.

its a long video but might be worth the watch when you have time. For me its mandatory I will need to get it worked on, so I would set it up for my weight etc.

Sonny, I rememebr you being "short statured" but I forgot you lowered your 501 and other bikes would need the same. Why look at even taller more expensive R version if you just have to lower it back down even further? The base Adventure is similar price as T7. It would likely be more expensive lowering the PDS shock than just getting longer dog bones/linkage for the T7.

I compared the suspensions on both the adventure and adventure R. I believe its fully adjustable on the R. No issues on PDS shock lowering. Motolab could set up either one for me. Thats what I mean, I still would have to spend money on suspension regardless. I personally enjoy slab riding just as much as gravel/fire roads. Though the 500 can do it no problem, its not as comfortable with the wind buffeting. This is another option also, just simply putting a fairing on my husky I suppose

Ha ha. I'm glad that I just flat out can't afford any of those bikes. I'd like one too but probably wouldn't ride it much.
