Went for a little back road ride today. A work buddy of mine got interested in motocycles a few years ago. Luckily I was able to talk him into buying a dualsport bike and actually wearing protective gear and stuff. He has been primarily a road rider, pretty hardcore about commuting back and forth to work.
We were finally able to hook up for a few hours to ride. We did a little tour of primarily the south and western part of Frederick Co. Managed 100 miles of twisty back roads and some dirt roads.

Sorry the actual pics kinda suck. This is us pulled off of Mount Ephraim Road near Sugarloaf.

This is where we ended our ride and headed for home. A spot off of Hamburg Road. (one of my favorite paved little back roads)
Doesn't his KLR look absolutely massive compared to my DR?

KLR's are massive. In retrospect, I wish I would have bought a DR back when I got my KLR, but it's not worth switching now. The KLR is well setup for my needs.

I explored some nearby roads yesterday. I found a neat stream to play in. Freshly mounted street tires (Shinko 705's) don't do all that well on muddy boat ramps or slimy rocks in the water.

We swapped bikes right at the end. I took his KLR through Hawbottom and few other roads. It certainly feels like a much more substantial beast. From a visual standpoint there is just so much bike in front of you. But that said it certainly worked just fine.
I think I prefer my DR, but for riding that also includes lots of highways, that KLR is pretty nice.

PS: My weekend looked like a whole lot of this:

All the saw work I did this weekend, I think I need to order a plaid jersey. Good thing I wasn't riding a blue bike this weekend, otherwise I'd have to call her Babe.

Managed to get out for just a short ride w/ the boy riding pillion.

I can't remember the name of this road, but there are pics of this same bridge by other DAMN guys. (Peter's Road maybe?)

Looks like the water was up over this bridge. We stopped for a short break and had fun throwing/pushing all the drift wood off the bridge.
