Re: We need a DAMN team for this one
Love to however I'm not allowed into Canada. Not joking I got a DUI over 30 years ago and it still keeps me from getting in. Found out the hard way in 2005 after driving across the USA only to be barred at the border. Have fun.
Re: We need a DAMN team for this one
I would probably be interested as long as it is not the flat, dusty 2-track gravel roads that I see in most of the ride reports about eastern Canada; that and mosquitoes. From the description on their web site, it sounds like the above sums up the Explorer Edition, but the actual Roaming Rally seems like it could be fun, provided you like wet feet....
I did read this in the 2014 thread about the 2015 pre-riding they have been doing:
"Next years route is going to be awesome.
We're 90% completed and pre ridden. A few gaps here and there to fill in but for the most part its finished. Like every year finishing it will be a heck of a challenge. Sand, mud, rocks, forests, hills, turn and burn roads...I'm thinking this will be the best one yet
Still waiting on confirmation from Campgrounds before we finalize the date. It won't be memorial day weekend again
Tougher than years past? Maybe a wee bit. A few of our favorites and some new trails that are pretty cool.
Day One
Starts at the St Lawrence river (US/Canada border).
Long, very long day.
Ends near a town called Killaloe.
Sand? Yep
Mud? Guaranteed
Water crossings? A few dozen
One optional tech, it's a beauty
Suspect it will take 12-16 hours to finish...doable
Nice campground right on a lake."
Shame there are not any motel options at the end of each day as IMHO camping just sucks, especially after 12 hours of wet riding.
This would be perfect for the XRL but I am not participating in dragging any 950 "Adventures" out of every other deep mud hole.
Sounds like we need a minimum of 3 for our "team".
I heard Wingfixer's DRZ makes a good submarine.

Re: We need a DAMN team for this one
I'm working on getting a bike (or two)for this type of riding... really looks like fun.
Jacob will be getting his learners permit next summer but this one is a little soon.

I think this is the one that they say you shouldn't ride something bigger than a 690, so you shouldn't have to pull out any 990 Adventures. :)

This IS the one where they say that; however Bonehead loves living up to his name....phoo wrote:I think this is the one that they say you shouldn't ride something bigger than a 690, so you shouldn't have to pull out any 990 Adventures. :)

I would have to agree about keeping the team all on thumpers. Manhandling KTM or BMW twins sounds terrible during a long grueling day.

Think my big KLR would work for this or would the baby KLR work better?
