2015 Shenandoah 500 Dual Sport - Oct 3-4 2015

It isn't on WATR's site yet but here's what I have found so far.

For the new peeps, this is an easy ride and should be on your must do list.

I'll get it up on the site at some point, probably a little closer to time. I have so much work I need to do on the site, but all in good time.

The S500 is definitely a good time, lots of good riding and better eating, and now with the "adventure" route, there's an option that pretty much any bike can complete. Go ahead and put it in your calendar as a repeating event: first full weekend in October.

Yep - I'll be in as well. I am hoping to bring my son or my brother to this one, so they can see what DS Riding is all about.

Much closer to time, there will be a call for volunteers with job titles, (and maybe even a job description.) If you want specifics, I'll dig up the list from last year. Basically, there is something for everyone.

Two areas of support that have been minimally crewed the past two years are 1) truck support for getting broken bikes back to camp, and 2) club members with amateur radio licenses who are either driving a truck or can ride with a truck driver to enable quicker response to problems.

Realize this is a bit specialized and not for everyone. But if you're so inclined, check out "http://www.arrl.org/getting-your-technician-license". As for equipment, an inexpensive Chinese 2-meter handytalky and mag-mount antenna could put you in the game for less than $100.
