So what is up with all this "last event" stuff. Clubs loosing land? Organizers just getting old and tired and no fresh blood? Turn out to low for the effort or cost to host? The New Windsor MAVT trials event this weekend is "last event" but I understand why. Just a couple guys doing all the work and not as active as they once was and time for someone else to take over.

I do not think its attendance. I did this event 2 years ago and it seemed like a big crowd of riders at the start and (passing me :lol2: ).

This is one of the rare few that (1) closed course that allows all bike types, no street tags required and (2) has a no time keeping needed, restart format that is becoming more popular.

My speedo is about worthless (china tech) so at this point I can't really follow a turn by turn chart or calculate MPH averages. Just following the herd as best I can...

I agree on rider turn out....events seem to fill up in record time.
As clubs lack workers to man events and available land goes away the rider count and sell out fast factor will only get worse.
Trials is a very small venue vs enduro or dual sport and we face the same problems, the old timers that got the ball rolling are stepping back at a faster rate than fresh blood stepping up but yet rider count continues to go up (good thing).
Everyone seems to have so little free time today that when they do get a free weekend they sure do not want to work setting up...running or tear down an event. Just the paperwork to host a enduro can be crazy from permits for road crossings, land owner and state coordination.
Even if the event was not up to the standards you hoped it would be, before jumping on the net to bitch about how bad something was, you need to be thanking everyone who took the effort to give you a day to go play.
I know I had to step back some from what all I helped out with, was a trail master at Shade Mountain and helped with SPER enduro plus our club trials events. As my free time became less I just focus on trials now.
Sorry for the ramble, should be a different post, just when the "last event" was noted for this enduro it caught a nerve. Not with the poster, more with the general state of the recreation we all enjoy.

Going to try and make it. I'll be on my husky if I do.

I'll be in row 35 Joe. Look for the 'ol china bike. :-)

And to make things really interesting, I have a friend coming on an Alta electric bike in row 38.

Showed up at like 750 this morning and ended up on row 55.

I finished 16th of 20 in B vet. Guys were flying today. Hot, dusty and rocky, although some sections were great.

I saw your buddy on the Alta at the first gas stop asking how to get back to the trucks as he didnt have enough battery to keep going.

Sometimes just finishing is a WIN! Nice job Joe.

I'm always kinda rooting for the electrics. I'm sorry to hear about the guy on the ALTA.

How did Adam (bambam) make out?
