DAMN ADV ride May 1-2

Post by Firebolter »

I was sitting here thinking and reading some ride blogs about the MABDR and other rides and was thinking. With all of the GPS routes I have for rides in and around the MD, I am sure alot of you have them too! We should plan a "DAMN" MABDR kinda ride. Not necessarily use their route, but maybe parts of it and add in some more stuff in West va and loop back around. Like start out in Haymarket (west of DC), that is a good central point for most everyone on this board and go from there? You are on back country roads from Haymarket and would be a good starting point

Sounds like a good reason to plan out a route and trip for next spring for a couple of days. Jed Hargrave put together a 2 day 340 mile loop and I have that all documented, turn by turn. We rode it and made a route sheet for it. It starts in Frederick and ends Day 1 at the resort @Rocky Gap and then Day 2 is more pavement than Day 1 and works it's way back to Frederick on small back roads. Day 1 goes all through Michaux, Tuscarora, Bucannon SF and then south and west out to Rocky Gap. Good Stuff! I have that ready to go now!

I'm so in for a ride like that. I have a slew of tracks that I'd be happy to contribute to the effort as well. Some going back to the MAT1/2 tracks from ADV rider and some of my own that pick up places like Hogback Ridge and meander through the Jefferson and GW forests.

I am gearing this ride towards guys with bigger bikes (larger than 500 enduro bikes) and for folks who are noobs on any size bike and just want to do a ride that is not a ball buster but fun and chill with a lot of forest roads, dirts roads and back country paved roads. Not single track or DS but maybe a small amount ST if it fits in? Camping or lodging at B&B’s etc. just some fun. For any skill level-that’s my goal. “Any DAMN rider” is the goal!

The route I have is good for any level bike, no highway, no real BS till you get close to Frederick.

I vote for camping cause I’m cheap like that.
