steel axle? heat nut a bunch, or cut off & install new nut.

I always use anti-seize on every nut and bolt. I know this is no help to you at this point but if you need a new nut it will help next time.

When I had my 2001 EXC, I purchased a steel nut from Fastenal that fit the axle. Needed to cut it in half because it was to thick, but it worked great.

vice grips to get it off with some heat. Then chase the threads on the steel axle to make sure they didn't get buggered up. They shouldn't since the cap is aluminum. Remember, that bolt doesn't have a shit load of torque, torque the new one to spec and use the anti-seize on it.

After heating, I'd hit the cap dead-on with a hammer a few times just to let it know who's boss, then try to loosen it. And if using a socket, stay away from 12 points, just use 6 point sockets.

Hit it with a good penetrating oil, kroil,PB blaster ect.,daily for a couple days. Then use a good socket and breaker bar, apply pressure slowly and progressively. Know when to let up,that's real important. If that doesn't do it apply heat and try again. I prefer a heat gun before a torch. The torch can get outta hand quickly. That process works for me 99.9% of the time. If it doesn't get ahold of me via PM and maybe we can get it off.

Oh and when you get it off you use anti seize when reassembling you must reduce the torque by 50% because of the lubricating properties of the anti seize.

Uh, I've never heard anyone say reduce the torque when using anti-sieze, especially by such a huge amount. Quite the opposite, I've read to use antisieze because then you're getting an accurate torque reading rather than a blip caused by stiction between the bolt and the nut.
