desperately seeking ears for DRZ-S

Post by phoo »

Anyone have the ears for holding on the headlight and bikini fairing on a DRZ400S? I would love to buy them if they're spares, but even if I could just borrow them to use on the KAT while I waited for new ones to come in, that would be totally fine. I have an S front end for my SM and of course the ears don't fit because conventional vs USD forks. Even if what you have is bent up and mangled from a major biff, I'm still interested. I have heat, mallets, and a vice. :)

Specifically what I'm looking for are: https://www.partsfish.com/oemparts/a/su ... rk-bracket

parts 19, 20, and 4x21 (the rubber gaskets).

Thanks,

~Patrick

In case it was overlooked, if someone has a DRZ400S and would be willing to let me borrow those ears for a few weeks, I'd be more than happy to provide some beverage of choice for the hassle. I'll even show up at your place and take them off your bike and put them back on when I'm done if that sweetens the deal at all!

Suzuki has one side in stock, in PA, which is great, but the other side doesn't even have an expected stock date. Also they don't have the rubber grommets, so I'm pretty desperate here.

Thanks,

~Patrick

or

Would the SM parts fit if you had spacers? Would be easy to machine plastic flanged spacers (like a top hat) that were captured by the triple clamps. (flange on top of top one, flange on bottom of lower one.)

or

A fellow who was riding/camping w/ us about a mo ago had a tree drastically 'remodel' his DRZ front end (and shoulder.) Might be able to talk him into borrowing those (but are surely mangled and will need repair) He lives in DC. Can contact him if the above two options don't work out.

Thanks. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but I got sick of dealing with eBay search and looking at page after page of crappy aftermarket headlights. I ordered that eBay item and will wait anxiously to see if it gets here in time. If not, I've already come to terms with doing what I did last time, which is dirt wheels on SM front end so big, stonkin brakes for the dirt. lol

Thank you so much for finding that auction for me! I did the buy it now, was supposed to arrive Thursday, for a nice, stressful, "I hope this works right the first time" experience, but it arrived today! Woooooo!
