Ford Excursion "SOLD"

Post by Boom Boom »

2002 Ford Excursion / $8,500
6.8L V-10 / 114,000 miles / new Motorcraft longblock installed @ 95k miles.
Fresh BFG tires / deep sump tranny pan.
This was my toy hauler, anything that might cause issue on long trips was replaced.
The 02 and earlier Fords were known for spitting sparkplugs from the heads, reason for the engine replacement at 95k was to get into the newer head years (more thread depth for plugs) and for having a fresh engine for the trips out west. Other things like new radiator and open flow cat conv are just a couple of the improvements done.
I get 15mpg just running empty (with summer fuel blend) and 12mpg pulling a open bike trailer and 9 - 10mpg when pulling the enclosed trailer with 6 bikes and full crew of guys and gear inside.
It is a great vehicle for hauling a crew of friends or family.
Only reason selling, I purchased a Dodge ProMaster Cargo van for my toyhauling duties.
Didn't take any pictures yet. Email mpool@jwgleim.com with questions.

So jealous. Since I had to get ride of my old conversion van, I've been wanting to replace it w/ a promaster. Did you get the diesel or the pentastar engine?

Just the gas V-6, so far very impressed with how it runs...far more zip than I expected from a big box.

I took one for a test ride, thought it was pretty nice. Especially with the high roof.

You bet, nothing like having 12' long x 6' wide x 6' high for storage / hauling and still see around 20mpg rolling down the road. I liked the looks of the Ford better (they are all ugly) but the front wheel drive of the Dodge sold it for me....just a little less helpless. Some nice rebates and with my wife being a business owner we took advantage of that and had close to 10k worked off sticker....making the purchase was a no brainer for me at that point.
