Dirty its looking good man  , the chain guard.... I purchased a new factory guard from an XR650L, I bolted it to an 8in piece of aluminum angle, cut a slot in the angle and used a hose clamp to physically clamp it to the swingarm. I can say it works for sure because it was on three different bikes when they were plated :brows: It seemed to get passed around and never did end up making it back home :dirtdog:

Thanks Brain. I saw that somewhere. That's what I'll do.

Lights and electrics work fine.
I've gotta get a clutch perch mirror mount, I ran out of room on the bars for the cheesy plastic mirror..

OK. I'm almost there, had a hell of a time finding oem spokes, on back order everywhere. And I had to wait for warmer weather to mount up a new rear tire.

I went to the local v-twin/vintage iron/chopper shop and he's going to do the inspection.
He's also got a super cool collection of vintage bikes, including a HD hack rig.

Insurance question-I know I need it, but do I just need to show a card with current MC policy or actually have a card for the XR?
Easy enough to fix with phone call and a email. It's the common sense part of why insure it, before it passes PENNDOT.

You'll need proof of insurance for the XR.

I pulled all the DOT stuff and put on the LEDs.

Spliced in a longer battery lead and ran it into the air box. Easy access for battery tender. The turn signals, brake lights and horn work off a rechargeable battery pack. It's under the seat and is a pita to get in and out, so problem solved.

Ran it up and down our local road a little, first time on the pavement, illegal of course.
It's surprisingly smooth. 5th tops out around 55 indicated. DAMN knobby rear locks up real easy and it keeps wanting to lift the front end :roost:

Waiting for PENNDOT is going to suck.
