Shorten a kickstand > Welder needed

Post by illenium »

My SM wheels should be in tomorrow, i'll use them for longer
trips (Ocean City :ride: .) but i need the kickstand shortened, i've
already ordered a used one.

Does someone in here have the equipment needed to cut the old
one by about 2 inches and weld the plate back on?

If so please let me know :deal:

Too bad Al isn't here anymore. He shortened the kickstand for my DR. A pretty darn professional job too. All for no cost. I think I bought him lunch maybe.

What do you have for a dualsport/motard?

+1 on Racer Al - for a few beers and some pizza he extended the side stand on my KLR and the center stand - top notch job.

Yeah, I miss you guys, too! :kumbaya:

I need to put a sign up in my shop on torn, dirty cardboard, written in scratchy magic marker "will work for food". :eats:

If you want to mail or fedex stuff, I'm still happy to do it, although I still need to locate a local vendor for shielding gas.

You'd be without your kickstand for a week or so, however.

@bucho > an 07 KLX250 i bought new last year at Pete's

@hara > sounds good, i have to wait for the new kickstand
though, the seller from ebay takes alot of time to send my little package

i bought the wheels from craigslist seattle and had 'em shipped to me, i didn't
know the guy included his old kickstand, but its a rather poor job, the paint
is all over your hand when you touch it and they cut it in an unexplainable
way and welded it back together, doesnt seem save :nono:

@all thanks for quick reply... hope to see some of you on the road this year :rickey:

If you are still interested in someone to shorten your kickstand, I used Automotive Parts and Machine at 900 E. Patrick St., Frederick, 301-663-8866. I was happy with the work, and I am still using it 2 years later so it is holding up fine.
