New adv bike opinions please!
Re: New adv bike opinions please!
Might wanna give the Yamaha Super Tenere a look. Got my 2012 at Twiggs 2 years ago and loving it. 13K miles and zero issues. I've been starting to see used ones for sale, fully loaded, $10K range.

Re: New adv bike opinions please!
Thanks for the replies. I looked/sat on a super tenre at romney cycles when I was passing through probably 6-8 months ago but at that point I was pressed on a sport tourer (concours) as my bike after selling the busa. I have obviously since changed my mind so I will have to take a closer look. What kind of power do they make and how do they compare in comfort to the other big adventure bikes especially on road?
My biggest concern as most of the adventure style bikes are comparable one way or another is the fact that very few come standard with cruise control. Cruise is a big deal to me because I want to take trips on the next bike. Ive tried a throttle lock (throttlemeister) on my 08 busa and did not like it at all. Even the GS did not have cruise until 2013 and I dont think the adventure GS has it until 2014. Both are more than I want to spend (17.4-24+) on a motorcycle at this point in my life (28yo). Somone brought up the triumph explorer and I looked into them and they do have cruise among other add ons from the factory with a more affordable price tag but still on the higher end of the budget id like to stay within.
Back to the triumph explorer, I like the look and specs (135hp/90tq!) on them and do not neccesarily need the XC but I would like the extras- fog lights, skid plate, hand guards. After reading it looks like they revamped the 1200 in 13' to add tc, abs, cruise so it will be difficult to find a used one so soon.
Didnt mean to trail on but I do appreciate all the comments. Please keep them coming!

The Gs1200 is 504 lbs & the f800 is 392lbs. While still heavy & big for the singletrack we do, it's a LOT smaller & more nimble than the 1200 & with 85 horsepower I would expect it goes pretty well.phoo wrote:They had the 1200 and the 800 gs at the Shenandoah vendor area. It was then that I realized I don't know why they make the 800. It is only 20 pounds lighter, not much cheaper, and way down on power.
I've been thinking about these for a while & have decided I NEED more bikes.... a dual sport bike and an adventure bike.
I've been missing out on the dual sport rides & someday want to do some long distance adventure rides.

On its own without a passenger im sure wouldnt be a problem but loaded down with a passenger it may be a concern.

I hear you, no comparison to the big bikes on the road but.... much easier to handle off road. So ..... big adventure bike AND small taged bike need more bikes
Re: New adv bike opinions please!
I have a deposit down on an 1190 KTM. My next choice might have been the Tenere. While chatting with the dealer he told me there wasent going to be a 2014 Tenere as they are doing a model upgrade. From what I'm reading the 10 will be getting all the electronic goodies next year, making it closer to the 1190 KTM and the BMW.
By the way I sold my ST1300 sport tourer this spring making way for the new KTM.

I need a set of stock wheels/tires for my WR450!
Re: New adv bike opinions please!
I have read a ton on the 1190 and it looks to be an amazing machine. Only downside to me is it does not have cruise control. I need something I can ride to FL and back on comfortably. I thought for sure the 14' model would have cruise but it appears it doesnt.GearedUp wrote:I have a deposit down on an 1190 KTM. My next choice might have been the Tenere.
