Curly Fern or Sandy Lane Enduro?

Post by Boneyard » Mon Feb 10, 2014 8:18 pm

I'm new to the area and have never ridden a NJ Enduro, however, I did The Hammer Run and it was awesome! I would appreciate input on these two Enduro's as I will only be able to do one of them. It would also be great to meet some DAMN riders at the event.

Thanks! :ride:

I have ridden both and I like Sandy Lane. Curly Fern is a little tougher, but both are fun.

I haven't done curly fen, yet (hopefully this year?), but I enjoyed sandy lane when I did it two years ago and will do it again if I can.

Thanks guys. I will probably target Sandy Lane but would love to do both. Any advice on a good rear tire choice for this one? Coming from New England I usually run the Pirelli MT16 or IRC VE 33.

It's sand and whoops, so basically any good fresh tire will work. I use MT16's as well, good all around tire. Depending on the route, there can be some REALLY deep mud holes. If at all possible, go around or to the very side. They sink deep and do not listen to by standers. I have seen guys up to the seat in muck.

On that note, do not go through the middle. Sometimes they are way deeper than they look and people throw cinder blocks and logs into them. Nothing malicious, just to fill in the hole for trucks.

Enduros have lots of single track, and a lot of it is harder than the Hammer Run. It's a test of endurance. :)

Some of the Sandy Lane stuff looks startlingly like the Hammer Run, though.

Thanks, I definitely understand Enduros as I raced many in the NETRA series. That's why I was hoping for some of that awesome single track :brows:

Sounds like a good event...I hope I can get there. Anyone else going?
