I just like to whinge every now and then

While it may not be the best woods/single track bike, it certainly beats not riding at all. A little suspension and brake work should make it much more tolerable. Plus once I get the husky back together it will be just that much sweeter.

I forgot to mention a couple things. While we were sitting in the parking lot a gaggle of guzzis went by. 7 or 8 moto guzzis followed by a vfr. This drastically increased the number of guzzis I've seen on the road. The other thing was the guy who brought his wife and a friend to ride at shade. The wife was on an older, kick start only, ttr125. They had taken the easier trailhead from the parking lot and were wondering why the easy trail was so hard. It's tough nowadays to find a place to ride for a rank beginner if you don't have any connections. Also, harrisburg is a lot further from winchester than I thought.

This is really true. Its a pretty steep learning curve for a newbie.
I came from the dualsport side of things so at least I had hours and hours of seat time on dirt roads.

Yea the first place I ever rode "dirt" was at Taskers on my drz. Oof, that was a rough day.

I've ridden a ttr125 at the r&t club grounds and it was not pleasant in the rough stuff. The lady was taller than me but at least she's not nearly so heavy. A grass field or smooth dirt trails would be so much better. One of the r&t members has some land in Shepherdstown that is ideal.

I need to get the carb cleaned out on the ttr...

Also, why is my longest appearance in the vid me picking up my bike? ;)

Nice video clip.
The trails are being over taken with maple saplings and it is a battle to keep the loop open.
Get a copy of the trail map and learn some land marks and intersections and you will have a much more enjoyable ride and will be able to pick up trail you are passing by and will keep you off private land.
If you have a plated bike you can make a weekend out of Shade and add in the 7-mountains dual sport loop (60-80 miles of trail and dirt road).
