Buce's old Beta thread
Re: Buce's old Beta thread
I know we talked bars- is there a specific trials bar or bend? For the older bikes. I see the one on the MATV site.
I think I need more rise, like 4-5" and I could add riser if needed? 6" may be too much.
edit- found Renthals trials bend 4-6". Looks like the ticket.

Re: Buce's old Beta thread
Renthal makes a 7/8" trials bar...reasonable cost also. Will probably have to order. They have a Dougie bend and Fugi bend also. I like the flatter less bend bars but you may want the Dougie for bit more pull back and rise.
Put dino oil back in your clutch before the fancy synt oil kills your cork plates.
RYP sells the weld on brackets to move your pegs..RYP may also have vintage 7/8" trials bars.
Work on making a clutch lever extension....you see how crude my Yamaha is but works good.
Or just buy a new trials bike.....

Re: Buce's old Beta thread
I put a new clutch lever and cable on. Now clutch won't engage or is it disengage? The new cable is same length and i have it maxed out. You can see by the pics the lever isn't back as far.

Re: Buce's old Beta thread
Overall length is the same, but is that tube that covers the cable the same length? (sorry I don't know how do you call it). In your case what matters is the difference in length between the cable and that tube/cover.
You should be able to change the position of the lever on the shaft. That should help if there's something different.
And from the pic of the bars looks like you can still adjust the top adjuster at the clutch lever. But still probably not enough

go ride it and let it wear in

Re: Buce's old Beta thread
Nobody nailed it....pull lever off the shaft and move to where it works proper.

Re: Buce's old Beta thread
Replace that old kill switch with a tether kill switch....you will thank me first time you have a stuck throttle. Once the clutch is working proper to the cable you have installed then find a spring that you can connect from the back of the clutch arm at the case to a point forward like the cable adjuster post or a jug bolt. Pull hard enough that it does not actually disengage the clutch but makes the first part of your pull easier. Better option is extend the existing arm. Adjust clutch that you have a tiny amount of drag with a couple fingers behind the lever and no drag when tight to the bar. To get the lever closer to your working range and not have to reach for it, throw some zip ties on the cable where the lever and perch come together. You scene how crude my clutch extender on the Yamaha is and works great...longer slip range and much easier pull, need to add the springs to mine yet. If you can find the shorty levers they work much better and take more hits before snapping. The long levers like you have if would cut down and then bend the end to work even with the bars when pulled tight....little heat and bench vice the levers are easy to modify.

Re: Buce's old Beta thread
I moved the lever on the pivot and that worked. I was confused because I guess the plates were stuck together. Once I got it started they broke free and it works nice now. One finger pull, reach is a bit much. Mike- I'm noting your tips and will try them. The new bars are nice, I need to tweak things a bit. Lowering the pegs would really be nice, I think I'll try to get that done next. I really feel like my ass is in the air
