If they could keep the bike looking more like a MTB (like the Sur Ron/SEGWAY) and keep the cost to around 3K, I'd buy one to ride around my house on trails and such where a true motorcycle would be frowned on. But if you look at the other ones that are more motorcycle like with larger frames and motorcycle type rims and such, those will still get you in trouble in parks and stuff. I don't want a full up electric motorcycle, but a "Sur Ron" style bike, I could go for that for local riding.

The Segway/Ninebot X160 for $3k has about half the battery, half the motor, small wheels, and a single crown mtb fork. The X260 is more like the present Sur-Ron LBX (with bluetooth comms added) and has a list price of $5k. Will have to see how much below MSRP they sell but IMO the Sur-Ron version looks to be the better deal. The X160 w/ the little wheels might be good for kids. The Sur-Ron is already 3/4 the size of a real motorcycle. Heck, its much smaller than my mtb.

unsure how to feel about this, but some pretty impressive riding to say the least

In twisty flat stuff the SR will keep up. Its just a big mountain bike. On it, I weigh less than some (fat) downhill guys do on their big rigs. FWIW, a top of the line DH bike is north of 35#. Some are QUITE a bit more than that. The SR is 110#.
Its 'just' ~6hp though. You can't use throttle to loft the front end over obstacles (but neither does a mtb, so you need to ride it like one.) It goes slow up hills:( It goes slow in soft stuff. It is so much fun already though I'm debating on upgrading the controller (and then battery) for more power. More low end grunt would be very satisfying though...
