I'd say if JD makes a kit for your specific bike then give it a try.

For what it's worth we used his kit on Jacob's CRF150r and again when he moved up to a CRF250r.... both were spot on!
And... we followed his instructions for altitude in Colorado, also spot on.

who did you buy it from Pat? You sure you got the right needle? I have used them on 3 bikes now and they work like a charm for me.

I took the Lectron off the '17 150 yesterday and installed the stock Mikuni w/ a JD kit. Rode it some today. I took the 500 out on the big loop @ Eagle Bay first as I didn't didn't trust the 150 yet to run well. Did some field riding on the 150 after and then rode it on the short loop. Still has a hint of WOT bog but works SOOOO much better than before. When I installed the needle I moved the clip down a 1/2 position as it was so cold (vaguely recommended in the install instructions.) I think it may still be a tad rich and will go to the recommended clip setting.

I'd like to get the Lectron working but I need to get this thing running right first. If I can understand what it takes then maybe I can figure out what it takes to do the same w/ the Lectron (as it may take a different metering rod.)

FWIW, the JD recommended jets are so much smaller than KTMs recommendations - like a 32.5 pilot vs 40.

W/ the RK Tek head the e-start no longer has the umph to crank it though (it really struggled before too so something may be amiss.) I need to see if a fresher battery does the trick, if the starter needs replacement, or if I need to use a series batt configuration to give it more power.

I took the TM 250 to Brown/Brushy last weekend with the SmartCarb2. First ride, I had .2 hours on the bike when I went down. Unreal, works soooo good. Pulls well down low, has mid range snap like the keihin and cranks up cold easily. Mid to top is awesome. Gas mileage similar to the Lectron on my 300. I know these Smartcarbs are pricey, but DAMN, it works so well I am very happy. No bogs, no hesitation and it is mounted as delivered with no adjustments except to the idle. I am sold on the Smartcarb2. I like Lectron on my 300 but the Smartcarb2 on my TM 250 has made a believer out of me. KTM 300 will be sitting in the garage more, TM250 is now the main tool. I thought I would miss the rekluse, nope, had no issues and the DAMN thing lugs so well and has more snap than the 300. Paw paw happy!
