Not too far for most folks, I've never done Candytown so

If a good rain prior you will experience pure rock and mud bliss. Fresh tire is your friend....and about 3 psi.
Good club..always a good event. Loop is normally not that big so modestly spectator friendly. Clubhouse with food and facilities.

Of all the MAVT events, Shepherdstown is the easiest.

You would do fine. Being the first event of the year they always have a large turn out so expect some lines at sections. The loop has some rocks and mud but easy on a trials bike. Sections have plenty of rocks. Jefferson has a very easy loop and sections are more tricky turns and logs...no rocks. Shepherdstown has a easy loop but lots of rocks and some lines not so easy.
If your schedule allows attend as many as you can.
