The 890 is a TALL bike. I have giraffe legs and dont see how it would be suitable for a shorter people. Have a friend w an 890R and we did a ride last year. I had broken my toe so we didnt swap bikes on Peter's Mill Run but I did throw a leg over it the next morning. At that height two of us had trouble even lifting its weight off the kickstand. Super capable bike but you have to be a good rider to pilot that much mass from that far off the ground.

John F wrote:Thanks for the response. I’ll post up with as much notice as I can. My “sort of” ADV bike is a 2018 BMW R Nine T UGS. My Buell wasn’t the greatest on gravel, and it came down (for a short guy looking for a smaller bike) to a KTM 890 or the UGS. I think the 890 may be a better bike, but the UGS was just weirdly fun to ride.

You did good John, I certainly miss mine. 9k trouble free miles in a year with my RnineT and like a dumbass unloaded it, for something else to mod. I didn’t even break the 600 mile break in with my 890R and it’s been sitting up at JTs last couple weeks getting the dreaded mtc failure sorted out Image count me in once I get her back Image

Cool bike! I've gotten an R9T loaner from Bob's a few times and enjoyed every minute on it.

actually I met up with John at wicomico with it. I did laps on the intermediate motocross track with it with relatively no drama :duel: sucks balls that's in the shop for warranty work though :dirtdog:
As if one more too tall of a bike is really gonna make a difference with me :killingme:

^this. :killingme:

Sonny, how much did you lower it? I have giraffe legs and find the 890R tall. It's a sweet bike though. My friend Austin has one and been all over w/ it. Loves it. Hes running the NEBDR w us this year, then continuing across Canada and up to Alaska on it.

Stephen, if I can get one big toe on the ground I’m buying it :lol2: Rode it the first 200 miles stock trying to figure out mod plans. If I followed etiquette I’d still be riding a big wheel mini bike
Absolutely love the bike except for the fact its being worked on. Handles great at low speed maneuvering, suspension is the best Ive ever owned in a big cc bike, but that doesn’t say much. Yes it doesn’t squat at all stock and stiff, people has complained about it before me. Swapped it with progressive springs tighter wound F/R somewhat maintains stock travel length and a seat concepts low seat. Sorry for taking this OT John, just want my shit back so I can catch up and ride! Can’t wait to try out your UGS

Sonny- I’m ready whenever you are. And go OT all you want. As weird as it sounds, it came down to a UGS or 890s. Looking forward to swapping bikes for a bit on the ridge road. And swapping my 300 and your 150 at Wicomico or wherever. I rode the Husky at the Pine Barrens last week with a few guys. Good day
