2 registrations were mailed in this week; one for me and one for the Mrs. (and I don't mean WF). You all be kind as this will be her first big event.

Good we left, I can see all of us trying to tell her how to do it might not work so well.

Flyer doesn't say anything about it but is there a tire requirement? Would it be possible to do this with a R1200GS with 50/50 tires (Mitas E-07 Dakar)?

It's been a few years since I've done the ride, but I can tell you that bike would be horrid on any of the options I remember riding.

they used to have a big-bike route. If they do, that would work fine. Otherwise as mentioned above, that could be a handful.

It depends. If you don't do any options, it should be fine, although width concerns getting through a couple of the entrances into the trails could be interesting with that motor orientation. They like to make the path go between two rocks, often. If you're a good off-road rider and good on the GS, anything is possible...

I want to make this event. It was my first off-road ever back in 2014 and I did it on a larger bike last year with much better results than my first off-road ever. This year, I have a tiny DS bike and another year experience. The limiting factor will be if my wrist is good to go by then. My personal goal is to be back to work by Sept 1, so if I stick to that schedule, this event should be well within my reach. I'll wait to send in my registration until mid July, just in case.

Go do it. Dont do any of the options and it should be very doable on a big GS.

Good for you to actually take your GS off the pavement.
