doing it the hard way

Post by mdubya » Mon Jul 05, 2010 7:22 pm

Think this thing has another ride left in it?

That thing was pretty well abused and it had some deep cuts in it and a few items embedded in the tread which surprised me that it still held air. I guess a fast run across Dolly Sods last evening on a bald rear tire and with dry, rocky, exposed conditions at the Sods prolly wasn't the smartest thing to do. Fun though. :rickey:

Front tire looks great. Too bad it is the wrong brand.

If you are going to change a tire manually and without a valve stem tool (long story), you should wait for the hottest day of the year. It actually went easier than expected and I didn't have to dig as deep into my foul language vocabulary as I anticipated.

I like the looks of the "take off", all feathered down to the edge.

+1, that's a tire that's been ridden hard.

However, I suspect your "hottest day of the year" would feel like a crisp, autumn morning to those of us in the Bulletmore area. :lol2:

The Pirelli looks well used but it is all but brand new under the track fuzz. A couple of adjustments to damping and air pressure would have that tire looking much more smooth with hard track use. Best part, it cost $10. :eyes:

It is warm here too, but not anything like DC/Balto is experiencing.

Scrubbed in for the street:

Notice how I had the decency to go ahead and scrub it in to the edge, unlike the so-called "racer" who had the tire before me. :harhar:

It actually works pretty good with the Michelin up front, but it is begging for a matching Pirelli. I guess I will have to mount up the front Super Corsa and save the Mich for a matching rear. :boohoo:
