Sam,

Unless this cough doesn't go away in time, I'll be there. Knowing me, I'll probably go even if it hasn't gone away. It's 1.5h from my house, so I'll leave my house in the morning and get there in time to get settled and sign up for a back row.

Thanks,

~Patrick

Denny (or others):

Will it be a problem with the rain cancelling the event this year?

Thanks,

Looks like things will be "drying out conditions" tomorrow --

I'm finishing up preps this afternoon so I can get to be EARLY this time. :)

I'm home. Sam and I both made it out alive. This enduro was "nationals" format, so no timekeeping. Just go as fast as you can in each section. Let me just say some sections were faster than others for me. ;) C riders did do the first section of the day, and there was an additional section later that was optional for the masters, golden masters, and womens classes. Sam did the first third of the part that was optional for him in the morning before bailing (smart move) and he didn't even know the part in the afternoon was optional so he did that one.

This enduro was the king of the rocky downhills. And there was one section where you dropped down a huge boulder into a rock garden. I made it, but there was an A/B rider behind me yelling "go go go!" I was undeterred, given that I watched the guy in front of me go ass over teakettle when he hit this big, flat loose rock. Only after I got to the bottom (and saw someone's footpeg that snapped in half... Not just "off," but actually in half.) did I see there was a go-around available. Oh, well. I made it!

I'm tired, but I had fun. Except maybe that first section. That was a lot of work doing miles of rock garden covered in wet dirt from the rain the night before. The only part that really gave me a lot of trouble, as in made me drop my bike four times, was the second half of the afternoon loop had a seriously rooty section.

I'll be doing this again next year, but it really is a lot of work. Hopefully, I'll have learned how to ride by this time next year so it'll be a little easier for me.

I saw one of you guys in a DAMN jersey a few rows of ahead of me, but I never caught up and my friend was done after section 1 so we didn't do the second loop. that opening section was a fucking ass kicker.
