So these are trails, not roads? I assume with permits no tag needed?Firebolter wrote:stopped at the local Gas Gas/Husaberg shop in Gunnison and bought our OHV permits
I have been having problems with the server running out of resources and giving errors. It is better but I'm still getting some periodically. Please report any you get to me at ken@kyler.com.

Both Trails and dirt roads, but mostly trails. You have to ride from the house to the trails (in our case), so technically you needed to be legal as even some of the dirt roads are "county roads", plus if you wanted to leave the trail system and drop into a town for gas and food during your ride like Almont, Crested Butte or Aspen etc., you "should" have a plate.RadioRyder wrote:So these are trails, not roads? You can drive up the county roads and unload at a trailhead and ride a non-plated bike in the trail system, but you better have a OHV sticker on the bike for the trail system (single track), else you will get a fat ticket from a Ranger, and we did see rangers out in the mountains during our rides, but none never stopped us.
So having a plate gives you flexibility to leave the trail system on the bike, but no, you don't have to have a plate to ride in the trail system.
Lots of cool bikes---

I had enough fresh trail mapped out to keep us riding for a month.
Totally epic trip guys! I am very envious and now highly motivated to get back west in 2013. Boom-Boom, I may even hit you up for some of those mapped out trails.
