I was out the last couple of weekend and noticed a Bunch of trail still have the “trail closed” signs up from the winter season. Wonder if they plan to take them down or just leave them up for when they leave them close this year also

My guess is they may actually be closed. I have not looked at the latest map of the approved trails but think some of the old trails have been closed. If you know the trail name contact PaTRA and ask if actually closed or the rangers office would know.

I just spent a while searching the internet for maps, etc. of Shade Mountain trails and found nothing except the commercial "riderplanet" etc. type. Also all the PA gov web sites including Bald Eagle ones list every type of recreation EXCEPT off-road motorcycling. Can Boom Boom or anyone update me???

There also are two designated motorcycle trails within the state forest:

One is a dual sport trail running through the Seven Mountains region -- a trail map is available on the at the district office.
The second trail is for off-highway motorcycles and is found on Shade Mountain. It is mapped on the Bald Eagle State Forest public use map.
Call Forest office for up to date info.

Is there a map of the Shade Mt trails? I haven’t seen one listed on DCNR’s website. Just the dual sport map in bald eagle.

RE: trail closed signs. I wish I would have taken a photo, but the language indicates it’s for the winter season when all were closed to motorcycles. One I saw was at the pine swamp end of tower tr., and another at the Swift Run Rd. end of a trail I don’t see a name for on the map.

Get your riding fix in before end of this month when Shade closes for the fall season.
