I almost bought a 2009 BMW 450x, because it had everything, except for the reputation because it was a 1st year bike. As a matter of fact, one on the biggest reasons I didn't was a totally stupid reason; Bob's BMW chose to display it covered in light mud after it finished a local race. I said, "well, if the reputation is non-existant, and they have to display it dirty to convince me it's OK, then "I'm outta here". I'm lucky b/c the 2009 was a relative dud. But since then, the 2010 improvements addressed every downside the 450x had and made it an awesome dirt machine and dualsport ride. Sit on one and you'll see how thin and light it is. And BMW even offered something crazy; like a 30K mile warranty! :amazon:

I got a call from the Sherriff a couple of evenings ago and they recoverd the bike!

It appears to be in pretty good shape but I haven't checked it out yet. The Key Lock area is destroyed from trying to force it and then hot wire it and some of the parts were off separate but I think I have most of them.

So new switch isa ordered and we'll go from there.

No info on who took it.

Somebody got it in trade for a debt and decided it was probably hot and called it in to the Sherriff who picked it up and called me! So the collection grows! 1 Honda, 1 Yamaha, 3 Betas, 2 KTMs, one old Penton and one old Ossa.

I need ONE more so I can break into double digits!

Good news Sam!

Now you can sell it to me since my DR is tied up with sidehack duty...

Wow, congrats. It is so rare to get a stolen bike back. I hope they find out who took it but that does not seem to be a priority nowadays.

That is awesome!! Almost a year later. I know you had that bike dialed in and it pissed you off it was gone.

Glad she is home - now go for that double digit!!!

Yes it was VERY dialed in with perfectly tuned suspension, Revlock auto-clutch, motor tuning mods and a Rick Mayer seat, etc.

Except for being heavy (about 15 lbs less than a DRZ) these bikes are amazing. SUPER reliable, low seat height and a very wide ratio 6 speed that allows 70 MPH cruising AND low speed gnarly riding. I like my KTM 525 that I have set up for Dual Sport BUT it is SO powerful that I have to really watch it. On the WR250R I can just pin the throttle and shift and it's sort of more fun to ride it WFO all the time.

Good deal Sam. That almost never happens. Two weeks ago on one of our jobsites, the guy that helps me came into the house and ask if I took his table saw out of his trailer to mess with him. I said no that I wouldn't do anything like that and if the saw was gone he better check because I bet there is more gone than that. It was about $11,000 worth of tools. Love to catch'em one time.

DAMN thieves... Makes me wonder if it's worth purchasing some type of GPS tracking system...

Anyone ever look into purchasing this. Wonder what the price is? http://www.microtrakgps.com/products_cycletrak.aspx
