Just throwing it out, but you guys realize Shade is open and FREE to ride.
By your date the dual sport will be over and Shade will have had a bunch of bikes traveled the majority of the trails and I would expect trail condition would be as good as anytime.
Not knocking M/R, but Shade has a limited window of time when we can use it.
As soon as it closes then everyone bitches it is not available to ride.
Phoo / D-grunt, you guys have 80 miles of 7 mountains ramble to blunder around on plus all the "drivable trail" roads.
Oh, and no quad ruts or dust to contend with either.
Please do support Mountain Ridge, The Cove and Rock Run. All those pay to ride areas need support to stay open.
Off my soap box now, just as Phoo knows a small group of us place a bunch of work and time keeping trails open to use and working with the state to keep what trails we have available to use. I just find it odd that they seem to get less and less use but everyone complains we have no place to ride.....

Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
I'm not familiar with Shade. What/where is that?
Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
State land that is free to ride and for cycles only (no quads).Marylander wrote:I'm not familiar with Shade. What/where is that?
It is a 20+ mile loop with many extra trails that add to the mileage.
Top of a mountain so plenty of rocks to ride.
Located off RT 235 half way between McAllisterville and Beaver Springs Pa (45 minutes north of Harrisburg).
PM me if you want more info.
Sorry for messing up your mid week ride thread...post lots of pictures so I can be even more envious sitting at my desk.

Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
I definitely want to ride Shade this year, and as Boom Boom mentioned it has a very limited open season. But if I'm going to do a midweek ride this week with my Dad, Mountain Ridge is the best option. The green quad trails are right at his ability (and interest) level. But if others wanted to go somewhere else, don't let that hold you back since I haven't even asked him if he wants to go.
Thanks,
~Patrick

Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
Shoot, I can't do this. I've got to go to a college orientation. At least I remembered in time to avoid my daughter killing me. ;)
Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
What time you guys planing to get there?
Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
I need to bring this up with my Dad again. We missed out on riding Saturday at the PaTRA dual sport (but we didn't miss out on *paying* for it... My WR died right after we got into the woods.). So hopefully he'll want to do this. He seemed interested in the easy terrain and I can use my KTM.
Did you have a preference? It's 1.5ish hours from my house. I'd like to get out on the trails before the heat starts, so figure being on the trails by 10/10:30?
Thanks,
~Patrick

Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
I plan to arrive 9-10. They open at 9 and its 2.5 hrs for me.
Meet up in the parking area around the office?
I can't imagine it will so busy that we won't find one another.

Re: 6/26, Mt Ridge!
The only way we wouldn't find each other would be because we were too slow or on trails that were too easy. :)
An earlier arrival is fine by me.
Thanks,
