Was swapping my motard wheelset out for my skinny/normal dirt wheels. I had the front wheel on the ground was about to also put a new knobby on it.
Then I noticed this as I was breaking the bead...

I guess I will make do with the motard front wheel on the bike for the DAMN reunion.

But any thoughts on the cracked rim. Can this just be welded?

Yup, that's cracked. Order a new hoop and lace it up.

You'll probably find the crack is right where it was welded originally.

+1 on a new hoop and change over spokes and hub.

Aluminum is tricky to weld properly, need a good tig welder. Wheels take a beating on rocks, spoke tension and/or loose spokes make em flex. I had a friend who knows what he's doing weld one & it cracked again right next to the weld. You could get it welded to make it through the weekend but don't expect it to last. You could run it as is & take your other to swap out, or someone else may have a KTM spare.... but that's why everyone is saying get a new hoop.

I'd run it  :screwy: :nono:

:lol2:

Im taking the wheel to a guy tomorrow who said he would at least take a look at it. If he can weld it, it will get me through the weekend at least.

This wheel will see very little use. This weekend and maybe 2 more till the end of the season. Hopefully it gets me that far.

what did Curtis charge you for that? Looks good BTW.

for the others, Curtis runs Full Circle V-Twin in Hagerstown. He also races flat track. He is an exceptional machinist and welder.

An hours time. He also mounted up the tire for me real quick.
