Re: Shade Mountain
I'm 99% sure I'll be there. It's the driving more than 2 hours each way in the rain that would be the issue for me (my tires feel a little squirrelly in the rain). I'll prep my stuff when I get home today.

Re: Shade Mountain
I was able to fix an exhaust leak in my car today, Skip did some much needed maintenance on his bike, and I also changed my oil filter. Right now I have three bikes that need loaded on my trailer tonight and then we'll be ready to roll in the morning. I switched to my snow tires on December 1st, and snow tires work very well in the rain too.

Re: Shade Mountain
Gear all loaded up, I'll throw the bike on the trailer in the morning.

Re: Shade Mountain
I got all three bikes loaded up on the trailer. Tight fit! I may need to build an additional center chock mounting point further forward than my original one so I can slide all three bikes on together more easily.

Re: Shade Mountain
Good riding today although there was a little bit of rain...
We were a bit directionally impaired.

Re: Shade Mountain
That's pretty neat, Kirk. Is that from your nifty watch?

Oy, we weren't even close to where we thought we were.

Yep, that's the track from the watch. This particular one has limited utility for future use. ;)juddspaintballs wrote:That's pretty neat, Kirk. Is that from your nifty watch?

Re: Shade Mountain
Yea we weren't intentionally doing it, we just couldn't find the correct trail. We kept seeing random blazes and thought that they were marking the proper trails.

Re: Shade Mountain
I can explain one of the marks off course as the gravel road we were on when we got so stinking lost that we popped out onto it until we met Shade Mountain Road again. It's got a couple doublebacks on it and such because we were still a bit directionally challenged on that road too. Another trail we were on that looks weird was the blue blaze with that rebar post waiting to impale someone. That was clearly a trail and we simply missed the turn, but turned around not too far beyond it. And, of course, the parking lot wasn't highlighted in green on the map, so the fiddling we did around in the parking lot looks like we were off course too.
