Eastern TAT variation

I want to preface this with two comments. I am new to this dualsport and adventure thing. I am new to the forum.

If this doesn't belong here then so be it. A friend from California and I are planning a 7ish day trip around the mid Atlantic area. Originally we had planned to do the full TAT but it was a lofty goal. We divided (softly) on a trans east variant.

Right now the plan is to ride from Clarksburg md over to some place in VA and pick up the TAT trail heading north. At the MD/PA boarder connect to the trans PA trail heading up to NY. Once we reach that head down to the trans PA/TAT connector and take that back down to Clarksburg.

My question for the DAMNed is this: is there any other/better trails or routes in the area noted that would give us some fun more technical riding?

We are both seasoned off-roaders from California and can handle most things up to 495 at taskers.

We will be moteling in order to keep the weight down. We will be riding ktm rfs 2004-2007 dirtcicles.

Thanks in advance.

Skinny-J led a group of us on a 6 day version of the BRT (Blue Ridge Trail) that sort of parallels the BR Parkway but more westerly on the way down to the tip of VA and easterly on the way back up - a few years ago. It is on forest service roads with about 15 miles of actual GOOD legal single track. There are many optional variations.

I haven't studied your route BUT the BRT route was FABULOUS and would be HARD to beat. You can probably find the thread in the archives. I'd love to join you IF you do it.

When are you planning on it? I can't do the KY-Trail in June and I'm not sure what epic ride I'm going to do this year. I was thinking street bike to Montana in 2 days, but I'm open to other options.

There is a thread somewhere in the DAMN archives about the BlueRidge trail. Advrider should have several threads on it if you search a little.

Fall of 2015 SkinnyJ led us on a 4 day dualsport ride way up into PA. This had some of the TransPA dirt roads and our third riding day was at two of the offroad parks way up in the Allegany area. Was fun trails. Nothing super hard or brutal.

I think there are some TransWV dirt road routes. While Im sure there is tons of semi-legal/outlaw trails if you know where to look. Routing a day or two thru any of the Hatfield McCoy areas would be well worth it.

What happens on a DAMN riders ride stays with the ride. I can see some user names changing after this adventure.

Faux pas, but that's funny.

It will forever be known at the KY-Trail, now.
