Im in if you guys are doing a big bike friendly type ride. Wes Im coming from SOMD and can come up 301/50 to hook up with you on the way up. Camping or hotel doesn't matter to me but prefer camping as an experience if its just a 2-3 day ride.

So really the type of rides I envision are true DS type rides. Back roads and as much gravel and dirt as we can find.
PA has lots of gravel in state forests, so our routes generally revolve around state land. Nothing real technical. Bald Eagle SF has some rougher sections and the DS trail system.

I've done a lot of the single track motorcycle trails in Bald Eagle on my 1200GS and just about all of it including the really rocky sections on my WR250R. Is it all big bike friendly, maybe not. Is it big bike doable with some skillz? Yep. The gnarlier stuff that I've done in that area on the GS was without hauling all my stuff with me. We stashed all of that gear in a cabin and road without luggage there.

EDIT: not wanting to overstate my big bike skills, I'll just say that my GS shows plenty of scars on the protection parts from dirt naps. I guess it kinda goes without saying that it happens.

Laoch wrote: Tue Feb 11, 2020 3:06 pm Let's see how much interest there is in "local" DS rides. Local is how you want to define it. Not local would be like the KAT. So, day trips or weekends in PA, MD, etc.
We also have the MABDR to consider.
I have a campsite in Michaux which works well for that area.
FYI Denny Mann leads rides in south PA state forests, usually Thursday evenings and the occasional weekend. He has thread on Adv Flugistan forum.

My thoughts are this- the second half of April for a ride. 18th or 25th. The 18th we could camp at Jim's and ride that area. Or stay local.

May- I plan on going to the reunion and DS on Saturday along with some of the milder trails. Also, Jim has his thing the first and last weekend of May. Or stay local.

June-tbd.

Let me know what y'all think.
The idea is to ride more, post less Image

Always watching! :lurker: If I had better nav skills. I would love to start the 777 ride up again!

A few of us did part of this a few years ago. It fell apart due to weather! I`m game to try it again. Mid September?

Junior I have a RnineT TKC 80s, 8" clearance under skid plate. Will it make it thru that stuff? since you've run it already. Seems the videos Ive seen, they layed it out for big bike friendly, with optional tougher lanes.

Yes. I did sections on my cbx. Bypasses for rougher roads.
