Might look at a 2014 1090. 11k miles. Hard bags.

Thoughts? Known issues?

Very serious problem with the throttle. It tends to go WOT frequently.

I thought the 1090 came out in 2017. Wouldn't it be an 1190 in 2014?

All of KTM's big adventure bikes are tall and top heavy. Good machines, but that's what you can expect. You're more than welcome to take my 1090 for a spin if you want.

My bad it’s an 1190r.
Almost as bad as HD with the alphabet soup.

The 1190's were tech heavy and too similar to the 1290 Super Adventure. They had a few minor tech/electrical issues, I believe. Pretty much all the big KTM's have fuel sending unit (not fuel pump) issues, but the part isn't terribly expensive and it's pretty simple to swap out. KTM phased out the 1190 to replace it with a slightly smaller 1090. The 1090 shares the frame with the 1190, but the 1090 has a better swingarm and much better suspension. The 1090 also lost a lot of the technology, but it can be added back on if desired. Think of the 1090 as a stripped down 1190 with better suspension, basically.

I don't know how cheap this 1190 Adventure R you're looking at is, but the 1090's should be going down in price these days now that the 790 is out. Don't rule out a nice 990 Adv either.

Again, you're welcome to try my 1090 out. It'll give you a feel for even the 1190 since it's on the same frame. You'll see if the height/weight is an issue for you.

Thanks Jed. This is a local dealer bike. I may just go up and hop on the thing and see how it feels.

JTs has one. https://www.jtmotorsports.net/inventory ... -10150192i

Camp hill Ktm has one. https://yamahatriumphofcamphill.com/Cam ... ad47f5941e

Sitting one that thing and it is big. I can just touch toes. And the weight, COG seems high.
The story with the one at Camphill is a guy from Louisiana was riding through and just dropped it off and flew home. It’s on consignment. It has been dropped a few times and has some scraped and signs of hard drops.

Actually got really interested in the Tenere 700. They are supposed to be in dealers next week or so.

Thats a good looking Tenere.
What are your seconds thoughts? I see the appeal of the Tenere at a lower cost. But a quick looks says they are both ~$10k (cycletrader). Is that not correct? I would think the 790 is then a slam dunk winner among this crowd (unless you just hate orange. I can understand that as I hate Red:)) We took a GOOOOOD look at the 790 they had in Richmond when I picked up my 500. Very cool bike. a friend and I can't think of any reason we'd need one, but it doesn't stop us from trying to figure one out :killingme:
