WTB (or swap) Kids gear

Took the kid to Tomahawk MX again this weekend. His gear is getting too small. Sigh, so starts the never ending upgrade process. Will buy him another set of pants asap but might as well start looking for the other stuff.

Does anyone have good condition used boots in size 3 they want to sell? He's in a US 2 boot now but will need bigger by early next year. I might as well get them ahead of time as they were pricey new.

Figured since kids typ outgrow stuff before they wear it out, might as well start a thread where we can swap / hand-me-down stuff.

I've got 4 kids just starting out riding. Age 11, 9, 6, and 5. I have boots that the 11 and 9 year old share and boots that the 6 and 5 year old share. They all have their own helmets. Otherwise, they don't have any gear, though the 6 year old likes to wear his batman costume when he rides.

As they grow, I'm sure they'll need more gear and different sized boots.

How is Tomahawk MX for the chitlins? It's in the same town as my cabin. Let me know when you're going there, and my son and I can join you!

Pretty good I guess. There is a small play dirt track beside the main one for kids. My son and wife used it to get their feet wet. There is also a short woods loop - one side is muddy and the other is rocky. (I'm told there is a longer trail but I've not found it.) For the main track, they have at least one 'small bike' run group. This Sat there were two groups in the morning: big bike, small bike but after a while they had enough for 3 groups: A/B, C/vet, small bike. Each is typ 15min. I've seen it get busy enough they break the small bikes into 80 & 50 classes. Total novice adults are allowed out in the small bike class - but don't go making big jumps (even though the good kids will be clearing the tabletops blowing past/over you.) It was no issue riding the big bike around w/ the kid his first sessions. Its definitely a family friendly place. Its funny to see the parents holding little (fast) kids upright on their 65 2-strokes at the start of a session. If you are too short to get back on the bike if you wreck if forces you to get good fast

There used to be another little beginner practice track just before the gate but that got bulldozed sometime recently.

There are typ lots of kids there playing in the field together off the track too. Don't know if covid put a damper on that or not.

I don't know about off track, but you reminded me that I've seen pictures of the track during covid, and even on the track, large groups of people weren't keeping 6' apart, at speed.
