Now its dark in moab and I want to try and ride at a new area on the colorado border, Rabbit Valley.

I drive another couple of hours to get there and the place is accessed by a rutted, frozen road, no bueno. Its below 20 degress and I'm sleeping in my car. I'm still on East coast time for some reason but I manage about 6 hours sleep somehow. ITs still dark but I can tell this day of riding here is not going to work out

Luckily I have internet so I scope out the next possible riding opportunity. In hindsight, I could have gone back down to moab. Instead, I end up at "north Delta staging area". Its a Flat bare spot at the base of some adobe hills in the middle of nowhere

Its still too cold to ride so I decide to travel further afield. Y'all have been to Peach Valley but I never have. Its less than an hour away, so let's go check it out. Nobody here but it looks promising

I decide to unload and break out my new $600 boots :frustrated:

Peach Valley is awesome! One of my favorites! Don't miss out on the hard enduro track next to the parking lot! See if you can beat skinny J's time!

Nice thing about Peach Valley, you have cell phone coverage on almost all of the trails and if you are riding by yourself, that is important. It is high desert riding and alot of fun, of course when we rode there is was 110 degrees! Monster hill climbs everywhere!

Acres and acres of these awesome adobe hills. There's a trail going up every spine. Some of the trails were blocked by snow. The melting spots yielded this weird kind of slimy mud. Kind of like moondust soil.

I had the whole place to myself for my first sighting lap. An older couple showed up to ride and they gave me a few tips. They were surprised that I was out before them as it was 19 degrees when the woke up in their van. By the time I left at noon, the younger crowd was showing up, many new huskies, gasgas and YZs buzzing around. Awesome lace worthy of a revisit. I was using another app called avenza. The cool thing about this one is that you can save Forest Service maps as your offline base layer

Back home, obviously. My car did a bit better mileage with the bumper hauler versus the enclosed trailer used last time. I've got a few weeks to recover and get ready for another trip out there. Not much riding this time but it was all great and I gathered some good info

Turns out that a ford escape has a bigger cargo area than an explorer. Had to cinch down the surron forks to cram it inside.
