12.1 Annual Pa Spring Adventure Ride, Sat April 10th, 2021
Posted: Thu Feb 04, 2021 3:35 pm
Anyone interested in doing this? Assuming the snow melts and I can get my fancy car out of the garage so I can put the new (to me) engine in the DRZ, I was thinking of doing this. It starts 2 hours/100 miles from my house, and is a loop, so I would likely bring my bike on a hitch carrier unless I think leaving my truck in the parking lot all day would be "problematic" even if I bought something from the store to make it "official." It looks like there are some seriously fun SM roads to get to and from the event if I have to.

Well, we all know that the 12th Annual Ride was a bust due to Covid, so we have decided to designate this year as 12.1, and hope for the best. We are definitely planning to ride this year, although the lunch stop may be an "every man for himself scenerio", depending on restaurant openings, and whatever restrictions are still in place by then.
Date: Saturday April 10th 2021
Time: Riders Meeting at 0900
Where: McDonald's / GIANT parking lot, Newport, PA
GPS: 40.492804,-77.113692
What: 150 mile Mixed Surface Adventure Loop, consisting of both asphalt and gravel roads.
Gas stops, and a Lunch stop are tentatively planned into the route.
Format: Self guided Roll Chart ride. (Pre printed roll charts will be provided free of charge on the morning of the ride. Roll chart holders are highly recommended)
We again ask that everyone please sign up on the IN list, so that we have enough roll charts printed out for everyone that needs one. If you want a roll chart, please show up on the 10th to ride the event.
We will be meeting in the parking lot of the GIANT just outside of Newport Pa, near the intersection of routes PA322 and PA34. Please arrive early enough to get gas, load your roll chart, and hang out and get reacquainted. Like always we will have a brief riders meeting, and then get under way by about 0915.
This route is a loop, and it ends back at the same GIANT where it starts. We hope to see a bunch of you come out and enjoy the day with us again.
As always, if you have any questions, just ask!
So who's IN?
Update 1: To avoid issues of leaving transport vehicles in the Giant parking lot, "there is a very safe park and ride just past the Giant....other side of 322. Trailer to there then very short ride to Giant."
