New (to me) KTM 350 XCF-W

Post by juddspaintballs »

I've had it a month or two now, but I figured I'd give it it's own thread. Street titled with a good bit of goodies. I'm just making some changes to how I like mine setup.

First up was a Midwest Mountain Engineering Clever Lever for the clutch for the one finger clutching.

I knew I wanted a steering stabilizer on this bike, so I opted for the Scotts under bar mount setup. I'm waiting on the actual steering stabilizer to come in, but in the meantime I had them ship everything else so I could install it all. I chose the under bar mount so I could run Highway Dirt Bikes hand guards and mirrors. Since the under bar mount raises the bars about an inch, I opted for a set of Pro Taper low bars with a Carmichael bend to lower the bars back down to nearly stock height and keep a nearly stock bend. New grips to go with the new bars, of course.

New fork springs and shock spring for my weight. New plastics all around. Brent checked the valves for me and they're all in spec. I swapped over a set of wheels I had for the 450 I sold because those wheels already had good tires on them with Tubliss inside.

Of course, the starter has died on this bike. I've ordered a cheap one off Amazon to see if that'll work. If not, I'll order an OEM starter. It does kick start relatively easily, at least.

No, it's a KTM OEM "Enduro" tank. 3.4 gallons.

New Amazon special starter works great. It wasn't terribly difficult to swap out, either. Remove the two bolts on the starter and the power wire, lay the bike on the right side, remove the flywheel cover, unbolt the back shell of the flywheel case from the engine case, and wiggle the starter out. I didn't need to pull the flywheel since just moving the back half of the flywheel case away from the engine case gave enough clearance.

I may see about getting the OEM starter rebuilt.
