I have gone to the Rattlesnake the last few years but it conflicts with a different series I'm focusing on this year :screwy:

Any tips or recommendations going out for first-time?

Put your rock pants on :lol2:

Also be careful in the opening grass section, seen quite a few guys get caught out on weird kickers in the grass.

The grass section has me most concerned actually. I dont like to go fast where falling hurts worse. Plus all those wooden stakes in the field waiting to penetrate a lung. Any chance they might put tennis balls on each stake for safety?? LOL

I just hope it's reasonably dry..... nothing worse than wet grass.

I read something about some tests being for the higher classes only? C riders roll past?

There are 6 tests total. Pros/A do all, B does 5, C does 4. You can usually run all of them if you are feeling froggy.

When you check in you'll get a route sheet that'll show where the cut offs and gas stops are. Bring a gas can and look for the trailer near sign up as that event typically has away gas stops.

It was a really nice course, lots of flowing trail. Never did a grass field before, and it was fun catching a little air on the big rollers. Lots of guys wiped out in the grass (hot, dry, powdery) but I stayed Upright. Editing some video now....

Got super hot Temps 95+ mid day and was cooking inside the helmet with exertion. Wow!

Passed a couple of people, got passed a bunch more. In the end I was like 103 or so out of 136? Would do it again for sure, plenty of places to pick up the pace!

And finished first out of two Chinabikes... making me the Chinese National Champion? 🏆 LOL
