I feel your pain. My Vertemati has the same carb. No issues with it for me so far so I can't tell you how it works.
the carb is set up similar to 2 stroke they also get gumed up 
add some wd 40 to fuel about a oz to tank full 
will clean as it goes burns and stops plug from fouling on 4stroke and 2 stroke 
great if you have a fouled plug spray the plug and put it back in good to go. 
no engine work is good news
