XR650l Burning Oil - looking for motor and rebuild places

Looks like my new to me xr650l is buring some oil.. Not that big a deal (yet), so I am looking for anyone who knows of places to get a donor / replacement motor (one in need of repair is ok, as I can get that rebuilt while I ride) and looking for good places that can rebuild the motor (over bore is fine).. Ken I think you know of somone local.. Looking for options...

Dude just order the piston and gasket set and find a good local shop to do the machine work like valve job and cylinder bore, you should only be down for 2 weeks tops

In all seriousness, try contacting Alex at RAM Cycles in Rockville. He is my bud and he does good work. If he can't do it, he can recommend someone who can.

Fredericktown Yamaha are good peeps too. They might even work on a Honda.

are you gonna do the work yourself? I'll find some good sites to order from tonight when I get home, and if your not doing it yourself I know Im alittle far but would give ya a hell of a deal on the job

This is definitely one of those "While I'm in there I'll just put in a....." moments. The L responds very well to a high-comp piston. Yeah, and a pair of HotCams drop-ins -- no valve train mods necessary -- would be nice, too. You know, "while you're in there". Don't put cams in w/o the high-comp pistons, however.
