I need a gifted 2-stroke specialist to adjust the timing and properly tune the carb on the Wasp. Got any recommendations?

I've spent the morning reading up on CR500 carbs. Seems most of the guys dump the PJ21 carb for a KEIHIN 38mm PWK Airstriker. Now I'm debating on doing that - cost is roughly $200 for a new PWK. 
still need someone to check the timing.
also read many posts saying that when it has to be bumped to start it is time for a top end - and you know this bitch hasn't been overhauled in a loooonnnnggggggg time.

I am 99% sure Forrest is still at Battley's. In the '80's, he was "the" 2 stroke guy. In the 90's, he ran his own little tuner shop on Oakmont Avenue in Gaithersburg. Late '90's, early 2K's, he moved to Battley's. Last time I was there (a while back) he was restoring one of Devin Battley's TZ 250 race bikes. If he can't help you, he should be able to point you in the right direction.. Super nice guy, too, BTW.

Forrest is a great guy. I believe he raced a little motocross in Europe back in the day.

i would be glad to help. we can go thru together pretty quick and show you the basics, 2 smokes are easy.
we can check or set the timing and check compression to see if you need a top end, if its as hard to kick as you say i doubt thats a problem, hard starting from needed a top end usually shows itself by low compression (easy to kick over but not enough compression to suck the fuel charge in)
also on the PWKs I wouldnt buy new, just find one from any modern 2 stroke bike on ebay, most anything after 96 has the same carb, i bet you find something decent for cheap $50. but keep in mind carbs do wear out so shop with care. and dont get the older oval slide pwk stay with the newer D slide style.
you might get one from Dean at Balt cycle salvage but he can be a bit proud of his junk I would do ebay

yes this weekend should work, one day might be riding but the other is free, we should meet at my place to go over everything then maybe hit a local ride spot to dial in the jetting, i will see if the crops are down at my friends place.

pick a day and time - I'll be there!
Also, make sure you have some ballast available (ie; passenger) as we need to be towed to start it unless you have a nice hill nearby.
